This week we have been celebrating Book Week whilst learning about the effects of palm oil on the lives of orangutans. Our book choice was There's a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom.
We have been making little diyas to celebrate Diwali this year. We used air dry clay to create the basic shape and smoothed them with water. We then used an array of bright colours to paint our diyas and created interesting patterns using special tools to make our designs which resulted in elegant and traditional looking diyas.
We have been exploring the gothic-style poems The Visitor and The Raven this week followed by a performance of Boneyard Rap. We had great fun learning the verses and the moves!
This week we have been studying the narrative poem The Visitor by Ian Serraillier. The children have been working together in small groups to reconstruct the poem, before listening to a recital.
