My Roll of Excellence this week goes to . . .

We had the visit of some parents who came and explained about their profession to the children. We had our dressing up party and had lots of fun! The Nursery staff would like to thank all the parents and carers for their support throughout the year and wish you all a lovely holiday!

This week we have been learning about the rainforest. The children made a parrot and a toucan. They have been measuring the snakes. They have been exploring the rainforest in our role play area. We also looked at the different food from the rainforest and made a banana and chocolate chip muffin. Next week, we will continue to learn about the rainforest.
We are continuing to learn about the life cycle of the butterfly/caterpillars. We looked at the story of the very hungry caterpillar, tasted different fruits and made fruit caterpillar kebabs!
Cross over link: We worked with Year 2 and Year 3 learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and did some activities. In the Nursery we also learnt about Eid.
Learning about the farm . . .
Continuing the topic of Minibeasts . . .
Minibeasts: We have been measuring worms and counting the spots on ladybirds. In our minibeast investigation lab we investigate different minibeasts. We found a range of minibeasts: woodlouse, bee, worm, ant, spider on our minibeast hunt. Next week will read the book 'Mad about Minibeasts'.
Inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk, we have been learning about planting magic beans . . .
Planting: We read the story of Jack and the beanstalk and looked at the different characters. We measured our beanstalk by using cubes. Next week, we will continue to look at Planting and the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Learning about Spring: selling different types of flowers and garden centre role play...
We welcomed the arrival of eggs which hatched into chicks.
Enjoying Pancake Day . . .
Chinese New Year: We read the story of Chinese New Year, wrote numbers in Chinese and made animal masks. We turned the Nursery into the 'Dragon' Restaurant and the children ordered food from our menu.

Making pink smoothies: counting fruit and talking about the ingredients - strawberries, bananas, blueberries and the special ingredient was angel delight!
